Regulations in Washington prohibit
employers from advertising or publishing notices of job opportunities that
indicate a preference or limitation based upon a protected category, such as
age, sex or race. Problems arise with
advertising that implies a gender based preference such as a consistent
reference to the applicant as “he” or “she.”
Language that implies possible age bias, like “recent college graduates”
may be problematic.
