Future of the EB-5 Regional Center program
While the Direct EB-5 Investment Program remains a permanent program, the more popular EB-5 Regional Center Investment Program is a “temporary pilot program” which is expected to sunset on September 30, 2015, unless renewed or made into a permanent program. There is a push to make it into a permanent program from both sides of the aisle in Congress. The program has been praised by right leaning and pro-business groups for its benefits to the U.S. economy and job creation. The proposed immigration reform bill seeks to expand the program by 1.) ensuring that spouses and dependent children are not counted towards the 10,000 EB-5 visa cap and 2.) per country quotas will be eliminated.
