LEAVES OF ABSENCE AND TIME OFF POLICIES
Most state and federal leave laws require an employer to comply with statutes that allow for leave under certain circumstances. For example, an employee requesting a leave of absence for pregnancy, disability or illness is entitled to time off under both Washington law and the federal Family, Medical & Leave Act. Likewise, an employee with a workers’ compensation injury may receive protection under that statute, plus the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Washington Law Against Discrimination provide additional job protection.
