Although the administration of disputes through the United States judicial system is a time-tested and fair process central to Rule of Law concepts, it can be time consuming and expensive. For these reasons, some parties draft an alternative dispute resolution provision into their commercial contracts. For a discussion of such provisions, see Alternative Dispute Resolution in International Business Transactions, by Randy J. Aliment, The Brief, American Bar Association Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section, Summer 2009.
